WHO WE ARE
The International Biotech Fashion Alliance (IBFA) is the global representative body and incubator for the development and application of biotech materials in the fashion industry. Our vision is a world where the evidence based benefits of biotech materials in fashion are fully realised and fully understood so that its positive impact can be maximised.
The fashion industry is one of the largest in the world, employing tens of millions of people, yet uses precious natural resources whilst is a major source of pollution and waste. We believe that the development and use of such technology heralds a progressive alternative to the use of animal or plastics-based materials in fashion, significantly shortening and improving supply chains and delivering significant benefits to the physical and natural environments, making the world a better place.
The use of such materials creates new design possibilities for fashion and luxury brands, while accruing benefits across the supply chain and, ultimately, to the consumer.
OUR PURPOSE
To provide representation of the biotech materials fashion industry to key stakeholders and policy makers on a global basis.
To agree and provide a framework for the development of independent and recognised standards safeguarding ecological, ethical and environmental responsibility.
Set the highest levels of quality standards in the industry and demonstrate that the industry is a responsible one, embracing transparency and traceability.
Campaign for regulation which is in the interests of our members and consumers and is fair to the biotech fashion industry.
